There’s some validity to that. Overall, alpha guys make more money. However, she’s also shit-testing for exactly the kind of guy who won’t hang around and share that money with her and any potential progeny.

Re the shoe-tying thing…
Matthew Ridgway, the commander of U.S. and U.N. forces in the Korean War, was once observed kneeling in the mud to tie a soldier’s boot-lace. Did General Ridgway lose “alpha” status by doing this?
My observation is that people who constantly need to assert their dominance in every situation (“respect my authori-tah”) are usually those who at some level lack self-confidence, and this will appear under conditions of stress where it matters most.
